About Jason

We are now looking for a forever home for Jason, the stray boy who came in a couple of months ago after evading the trap for quite some time. I'd just like to add a trigger warning because the following contains some information that will upset.

We were alerted to Jason after some concerned locals got in touch about him due to his obvious facial injuries.

Shortly afterwards we were sent some truly awful photos of him shortly after his initial injuries happened where the skin was quite literally hanging from his face, we did assume it was due to an abscess but after vet checks it's thought someone likely threw hot oil over this poor, beautiful boy.

His skin after time healed by itself, but the skin has stretched in the process leaving him with his unique facial features. He also has spots of scarred bare areas on his body which are believed to be from the suspected hot oil. Luckily he can still close his eyes, so doesn't need any eye drops to keep them moist, and there is no further treatment needed.

He has been neutered, chipped and vaccinated, and is estimated to be around 2 to 3 years old.

Now understandably, Jason is a scared boy, he spends most of his time behind or on the sofa, he LOVES blankets and buries himself inside them. He loves dry food, treats, water, and plays with toys while you're not watching him. He is clean with the litter tray BUT has quite soft stools that occasionally go to diarrhea, when this happens he does miss the edge sometimes. His blood tests are negative for any nasty diseases, and his stool samples came back clear, so it's likely going to be an ongoing thing and will need a good quality diet, and some trial and error to find something that works for him.

Jason's ideal adopter will be pet free, without young loud children, where he can be left to settle in at his own pace with absolutely no expectations.

His foster can pick him up and fuss him, he tolerates this well if he's wrapped in a towel or blanket, and his new adopter will just need to give him time and space. He is fearful and will occasionally give a bit of a growl, but has never hissed or scratched.

He could be slowly introduced to another friendly female neutered cat we think, but he would need his own space initially to settle into before giving him a whole house to explore.

We think he would likely want to go outside at some point, so a home away from busy roads or with a catio/enclosed garden. He hasn't made any effort to go outside in his foster home though so may be content with an indoor life.

If you would like to adopt Jason, his adoption donation is £90.
